Kiana Shafiei
Kiana is a dedicated and caring teacher who has had the privilege of watching her students’ achievements at various national and international events, competitions, conservatoire exams, grade exams and Diplomas. Her teaching methods are designed according to the students' aims, levels and individual learning styles, with many of her students continuing their studies at conservatoires across the UK.
Teaching primarily solo piano and musicianship at Chetham’s School of Music and the Royal Northern College of Music junior department, Kiana also coaches chamber music.
Kiana started her teaching career at higher education as an Assistant Lecturer at the Royal Northern College of Music where she worked closely with the Head of Graduate school, Professor David Horne, in giving tuition to postgraduate students, ensuring a high quality teaching in the line with standards of the conservatoire.
She has examined and adjudicated at the UK’s leading conservatoires and universities as well as competitions including ENKOR competition since 2014 - Kiana became an Associate Fellow of the Higher Education Academy in 2015.
She describes the best teaching method as the one that recognises students’ differences, identifies and applies the right pedagogical methods for each student. She is also conscientious about the wellbeing of the students, music performance anxiety issues and performance related injuries.
